Many consumers are not aware of the importance of protecting or the proper way to protect paint on vehicles. Consumers will spend thousands of dollars to purchase a vehicle, yet will not protect it which eventually will cause your vehicle to lose resale or trade-in value or possibly a few thousand for a new paint job.
There are other products on the market which offer a so called 5 year warranty protection which costs about $500 or more for the initial application. However, if you read the fine print your warranty becomes void if you do not have the application re-applied every 6 months by an authoized dealership which is about another $200 a year. These applications usually contain silicones, polymers, or acrylics which just sit on the paint and wear away after repeated washings. They do not enhance the paint itself.
Others claim by merely applying plastic to selected areas of the vehicle it will protect it. The only warranty they carry is on the plastic, which is it won't yellow, bubble or crack. The applied plastic may provide limited protection on the plastic areas, however the remainder of the vehicle is exposed to possible irreversible permanent damage. The plastic does nothing to enhance the paint itself.
Waxes, including carnauba wax, which comes from the carnauba palm tree, must be applied at least 4 times a year to offer any kind of protection. Waxes do not carry a warranty on the paint against all the environmental hazards it can encounter. No wax enhances the paint itself. Wax melts.
